Getting the ring size right matters — a ring that's too tight pinches; one that's too loose risks loss. Here are three reliable DIY methods.
Method 1 — The String / Paper Strip Method
- Cut a strip of paper or thin string ~10cm long.
- Wrap snugly around the base of your finger (not the knuckle).
- Mark where it overlaps and measure with a ruler in mm.
- Match the millimetre measurement to the Indian ring size chart below.
Method 2 — Existing Ring
Take a ring that already fits and measure its inner diameter in millimetres. Match it to the size chart.
Indian Ring Size Chart
| Inner Diameter (mm) | India Size | UK Size | US Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| 14.0 | 6 | H ½ | 4 ¼ |
| 15.3 | 10 | L | 5 ¾ |
| 16.5 | 14 | N ½ | 6 ¾ |
| 17.3 | 16 | O ½ | 7 ¼ |
| 18.1 | 18 | P ½ | 8 |
| 19.0 | 20 | R | 8 ¾ |
Tips for Accuracy
